Wilma June Von Dissen Hensley Dissen)

Wilma June Von Dissen Hensley, 83, passed away on December 27, 2016 in Las Cruces while under care at Mountainview Regional Medical Center. She was born on June 11, 1933 in Deputy, Indiana to Walter and Gertrude Von Dissen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, George Matt Hensley. She is survived by her son Paul Hensley (Marget) and daughter Melissa Hensley (Jeff Miller), 3 grandchildren, Amy Hensley Tyler (Steven), Kevin Hensley (Laura), Eiche Miller and 4 great grandchildren, Kate Tyler, Maxwell Tyler, Woodrow Hensley and Roslyn Hensley. June married her high school sweetheart, George Hensley, in 1951. They lived in and visited many places over the years. June was always ready and able to pick up stakes and smooth out the bumps of 20 plus moves during George's career. They eventually settled in Las Cruces and finally purchased their first and only home in 1986. They wanted to return to the desert life, having lived in Las Cruces from 1967-1970. June was a long-time member of University United Methodist Church where she worshipped and made many life-long friends. She became an accomplished golfer and placed high in many local tournaments during her playing years. She later picked up square dancing and soon was traveling the state and even the country enjoying that lifestyle. She was a loving caregiver to George in his last years. She met fellow widower Ray Brandstrom through square dancing and they became a loving couple and shared many good times. They took care of one another and Ray was by her side until the end. June will be remembered as an excellent cook and seamstress, an avid golfer and square dancer, and as a warm, spirited and loving person. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family.
