William F. Webber

William "Bill" Ferrand Webber, 67, died on January 1, 2018 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He is survived by his wife, Lauranne Webber, his daughters, Wendy Webber and Karajane Denmark, and his extended family across the United States. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lud and Thuda, and sister, Wendy. Bill Webber was a poet, a philosopher, and a photographer. He wanted this world to be a more caring place--without violence or profits over people--and he contributed to that in his relationships, his connection to nature, and his law practice. He was the first person to drop everything he was doing to give the support you needed and wanted when you needed it. Bill was born in Borger, Texas where he grew up with his parents and three siblings, Barbara, Tom, and Mary and where he liked to spend as much time as he could with his dogs at Lake Meredith. He studied psychology at the undergraduate level and philosophy at the graduate level at Georgetown University. Before going to Saint Mary's Law School in San Antonio, TX he traveled and worked across Europe and the United States cementing his lifelong love of solitary hiking and camping. During this time he met his first wife, Erika Brett, and married her while starting his law practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Shortly after, he moved to Las Cruces, NM where he focused his practice on cases that would end profit-driven healthcare, working closely with his second wife, Lauranne Webber. Bill woke up early every day to write in leather bound journals with his fountain pens before taking his dogs, Starlight and Beesie, on long walks around the orchards near their home, often with his camera to take photos of the hawks who he met along the way. Bill believed that we can heal ourselves by being human to each other and by remembering that "rocks are people too." His endless craving for knowledge, his creativity and art, his passion for nature-especially healing hawks and healing dogs-and his humor that was simultaneously sarcastic and loving will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. A memorial will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Baylor Canyon Road Windmill. The windmill is 0.9 miles north on Baylor Canyon Road off of Dripping Springs Road.
