William E. Rose, 79, of Las Cruces, NM died Sunday December 26, 2004 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice. He was born March 26, 1925 in Niles, Ohio to Michael and Adele Rose. He was drafted in June of 1943 and served in the United States Army as a 30 Cal. Machine Gunner during the Battle of the Bulge. After WWII William attended Youngstown University were he earned his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. After working for many years with G.M. as an Electrical Engineer in Ohio he retired in 1990 and moved his family to Las Cruces, NM. William was very active with many clubs including the Big Band Seniors Dance Club (Past President), the V.F.W. Post 10124, and a past member of the Elks Lodge 1119. He loved being outdoors fishing, boating, or teaching children how to water-ski. William also enjoyed his music, playing his Tenor Sax or dancing to Big Band Music. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather that will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Hazel Marie Rose of the family home, two children Arnold William Rose and wife Suzy, and Leala Rose all of Las Cruces, NM. He is also survived by three grandchildren Dominic M. Garro, Dillian W. Rose, and Benjamin R. Aranda. He was preceded by four sisters Kathrine, Mary, Louise, Clara and one brother George. A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday December 29, 2004 at Getz Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Thursday December 30, 2004 also at Getz Funeral Home at 10 AM. Burial will follow at Masonic Cemetery. Officiating will be Col. Archie Bassham and members of the V.F.W. post 10124, honors will be provided by the Marine Corps League. PDF Printable Version
