Vicente M. Palacios

Vicente M. Palacios, 85, of Las Cruces died peacefully, Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center, while surrounded by his loving family. Vicente was a very giving man who loved to hunt, fish, camp, listen to music and spend time with his grandchildren. Vicente not only gave to his family but our country as well. During WWII he served four tours in Germany, as well as five years in Italy, before retiring in Las Cruces as a Sergeant in the US Army in 1964. After retiring Vicente became very active in his community, attending, participating, and volunteering for many community activities. He is survived by three sons, Vicente J. Palacios and wife Gloria of Las Cruces; John J. Palacios and wife Theresa of San Bernardino, California; Robert J. Palacios and wife Rita of Las Cruces. Two daughters, Lilliana P. Sanchez, and Sally P. Gonzalez and husband J.L. of Mesquite, New Mexico. One sister Tomasa Pena of Houston, Texas, as well as 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Vicente was preceded in death by his beloved wife Isidora J. Palacios; brother, Octavio Palacios; and two sisters, Lupe Aguilar of Artesia, New Mexico, and Petra Pena of Bay City, Texas. A Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Liturgy will be given at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 18, 2006 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Ricardo Bauza. Pallbearers will be Robert Palacios Jr., Issac Barela, Richard Cascante, Raymond Montoya, David San Roman, and Mathew Palacios. PDF Printable Version
