Tommy Torres

Tommy Torres, 90, of Las Cruces, NM passed away peacefully on Saturday February 15, 2025.

He was born on July 24, 1934 in Salem, NM to Envangelisto Torres and Sara Beltran Torres. He lived in Salem with his parents and siblings. Years later the family moved to a farm closer to Hatch, NM. He lived at the farm until he married Otila Vega in 1957. Together they had a son, and moved to Albuquerque, NM seeking job opportunities. The family eventually moved back to Las Cruces NM.

Tommy tried his hand at different occupations. He worked as a delivery truck driver, machine shop operator, in a lumber yard, managed a service station (Vickers) and retired as a forklift operator. 

Tommy’s pastimes included watching all types of sports. But, his favorites were baseball and football. His teams were the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. Other activities he enjoyed were working on his cars and trucks, listening to music, watching movies, playing cards and shooting pool with friends and family. 

Tommy is survived by his wife Otila (Tillie) Torres, Son Randy Torres (Linda), Brother Richard Torres, Sister Erlinda Torres. And many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Evangelisto and Sara Torres, siblings, Jesusita Clark, Maria Castillo, Lorraine Castillo, Manuel Torres, and Jose Torres.

Tommy will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and all who knew him.

The services will be held at Our Lord of Mercy Church on February 27, 2025. The Rosary at 10:00 – 10:30 AM, followed by the Mass 10:30 – 11:30 AM. The Burial is at Garden of Memories Cemetery 12:00 – 1:00 PM. A reception to follow at the Lord of Mercy Parish hall 1:00 – 3:00 PM.
