Tomas N. Marquez

Tomas N. Marquez, 45, of Las Cruces, passed on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009. He was born July 14, 1964 in Las Cruces to Pablo and Concha Nevarez Marquez. Tomas was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably. While in the service he was awarded Rifle Expert Qualification Badge/ Hand Grenade Marksman Qualification Badge/ Army Service Ribbon/ Overseas Service Ribbon/ Good Conduct Medal and the Driver Mechanic Badge. He was a member of the Dona Ana County Sheriffs Posse, a member of the El Perro Diablos, loved to tinker and fix things, liked to read and go to casinos, but his passion was for the Dallas Cowboys. Tomas enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years Martha and his son Pablo both of the family home; sister Gerarda Marquez and husband Jeff Newland of Rochester, Minnesota. Also surviving him are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Tomas was preceded in death by his parents, brother Eddie Marquez, Maternal grandparents Maria and Ricardo Luis Nevarez Sr. and paternal grandparents Tomas and Consuelo Marquez. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, Jan. 4, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home where his prayer vigil will follow at 7:00 pm. Tomas's funeral mass is at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine and Parish with Fr. Don Adamski officiating. The US Marine Corp League(El Perro Diablos) will provide military honors. Pallbearers will be members of the family and friends. PDF Printable Version
