Tolenta "Lala" Gonzalez June 22, 1950 - June 24, 2022 It is with sad and heavy hearts that we announce, Lala Gonzalez, 72 of Garfield, NM passed away surrounded by her husband and daughter on June 24, 2022, at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, TX. Lala was born June 22, 1950, in Truth or Consequences, NM (formally known as Hot Springs), to Ambrosio and Josefita Sanchez. She was one of nine children. Lala graduated valedictorian of her class from Hot Springs High School in 1969. On April 24, 1976, she married the love of her life Errol Gonzalez, and they were happily married for 46 years. Together they had one child, their daughter Natalie, who was the light of her life, her greatest joy, and her greatest accomplishment. Lala was a proud, devoted, and loving wife and mother, always taking care of her family. Lala was a very devout Catholic and dedicated her life to serving the Lord in any way she could. She was an active member of San Isidro Catholic Church in Garfield, NM for many years. If she wasn't home, she could most likely be found at the church. Lala also was a catechism teacher and school librarian at Garfield Elementary School until she become too ill to do so. She impacted the lives of so many people. Lala was such a kind, caring, loving, compassionate, and selfless person who always put everyone else above herself. She deeply loved her family and her friends. Lala lived her life so fully and always with never ending faith in God despite her lifelong ailments. She had the biggest heart, a heart of gold and all who encountered her throughout her life felt that being around her. She always had a way of making everyone feel special especially on their birthday. Lala always sent yearly birthday cards to her friends and family without fail. To know her was to love her and she will be missed immensely. Lala will live on in our hearts forever. Lala is survived by her husband Errol Gonzalez, daughter Natalie Gonzalez, and son-in-law Luis Vasquez. She is also survived by her siblings, Virginia Ortega (Mike Ortega), Mary Helen Polanco, (Santiago Polanco), Gilbert Sanchez (Rosemary Sanchez), Ida Olivas (Ruben Olivas), and sisters-in-law Josephine Sanchez, Sara Sue Lucero, and Rosemary L. Gonzalez, along with many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends, especially her best friends Lupe Sanchez and Sister Marie-Paule Willem. Lala is proceeded in death by her loving parents, Ambrosio and Josefita Sanchez, and Antonio and Arcelia Gonzalez; beloved aunties Lucy Padilla and Erlinda Lucero; her brothers Milo Sanchez and Richard Sanchez; her sisters Mary Torres and Gloria Gutierrez; sister-in-law Mary Esther Gonzalez; brothers-in-law Paul Torres, Rosalio Gutierrez, Sammy Gonzalez, Antonio "Tommy" Gonzalez, and her nephew Joseph Samuel Gonzalez. Services for Lala will take place on July 5, 2022, at San Isidro Catholic Church beginning with a viewing at 9:00 am with a rosary and funeral mass to follow along with burial at the Garfield cemetery. Pallbearers will be, Brian Torres, Jason Polanco, Levi Sanchez, Luis Vasquez, Tony Gonzalez, and Stevan Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Sanchez and Jesus Valdonado. First Visitation
