Theodore Noal Richardson

January 2, 1975 — January 4, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Ted Richardson.Born on 1/2/1975, Passed 1/4/2025. Ted was raised primarily in Las Cruces, NM.In his youth, Ted was an extremely intelligent and gifted young man.

He out-sold many other students at MHS during fundraising events and won numerous prizes. Ted was a straight-A student throughout high school. He participated in the marching band and orchestra, playing the bassoon and clarinet. He made the Dean’s List for two years at NMSU and excelled in soccer there.Ted shared many years of competitive shooting with his father, Tom Richardson. He still holds the range record at Butter Field Shooting Trail, where he shot an impressive 37 out of 40 Small Bore Rifle silhouette targets at distances of up to 100 meters using iron sights.

Ted started a family with his first love, Elvira Castro, and had two handsome sons, Thomas and Max Richardson, whom he adored and loved deeply. One of his greatest joys was tearing up the dance floor—everyone remembers his smile and his unforgettable dancing!Ted loved spending time with friends, listening to great music, hunting, fishing, and camping. He truly embraced life.Ted worked in the food industry for many years and enjoyed bringing happiness to those he served.

He is survived by his father, Tom Richardson; his uncle, Ted, and cousin, Aaron; his mother, Rose Hooper; his loving sister, Julie, and her four sons, Hayden, Lochlan, Cowen, and Liam; his sons’ mother, Elvira Castro; and his beloved sons, Thomas and Max Richardson.Ted spent his final days with his father, Tom, in hospice visited by many of his friends. Jerry Deal, who drove him on his last “Lonesome Dove” trip from Seattle to Las Cruces to see his sons one last time; high school friends Mikey Layton, Russel Larcher, and Nori, who all loved him like family; and Amber, who loved him, danced with him, and shared adventures in his final years.

Ted was loved by too many people to name. His smile and infectious laugh will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.We lost Ted too young to alcoholism, and it will forever break our hearts. Please help anyone you know who is struggling with addiction—it may save their life if they choose to change.

Fly high, Ted and howl at the moon!
