Sheryl Ann Whittaker Mesloh, age 52, passed away peacefully on March 28th, 2016 at the Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. She is survived by her loving husband Nicholas Mesloh and her beloved children, Sam and Nathan, her parents Ron and Sylvia Whittaker, her brother Ron and sister Mary-Lynn Reiser, and a multitude of cousins, nephews, nieces, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Sheryl was born on March 13, 1964 in Borger Texas to Ron and Sylvia Whittaker. She grew up in Sweeny Texas and moved to Guayama Puerto Rico where she met her future husband Nicholas in the mid 70s. One of the proudest moments of her teenage years was a family trip where she hiked down and back out of the Grand Canyon. She moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma and was a member of the last graduating class of Sooner High School in 1982. She started college at University of Oklahoma as a nursing student and on October 6, 1984, married Nicholas and moved to Clear Lake, Texas. Sheryl finished her nursing degree at San Jacinto Community College and worked at Clear Lake Regional Hospital as a labor and Delivery Nurse, an occupation she adored. In 1995 she retired to spend more time with her two children, eventually homeschooling them both until high school graduation. Sheryl was an avid quilter and spent many hours designing, piecing and quilting masterpieces. She was an active member of the Taylor Lake Christian Church, the Christian Women's Fellowship and started a quilt group at the church which still meets today, several years after she moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico. Sheryl was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer in 2002 and became a tireless advocate and counselor to her IBC sisters until her passing. Sheryl loved to view the Organ Mountain Range east of Las Cruces, and would get up in the predawn hours to watch the sun rise over the peaks with her quail friends as well as watching the mountains change colors during sunset. A memorial service will be held at the Taylor Lake Christian Church in Seabrook, Texas on April 16th, 2016 at 11 AM. A light luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall. Her ashes will be scattered in a number of places that were meaningful to her at later times.
