Shawn De'Vaul Davis

Shawn De'Vaul Davis, 43, was called home to be with the Lord, Thursday, July 25,

2024 while a patient in Kindred Hospital, 1740 Curie Drive, El Paso, Texas 79902. He was born on February 17, 1981 in LaFayette, Louisiana to Clarence and Lillie Joyce Davis.

 Shawn, the son of military parents, began his educational studies in Kindergarten located at Fort Greely, Alaska. After three years in Alaska we were transferred from a cold region test center to White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, a desert test center. Shawn attended school on the military base. After retiring from the United States Army in 1990, we settled in Las Cruces, NM and Shawn enrolled in Sunrise Elementary, Las Cruces, NM. Later he attended Vista Middle School in Dona Ana, NM. Followed up by attending Sierra Middle School, and finally Onate High School Las Cruces, NM.

 At the age of 16, Shawn secured his first job as a short order cook at the Cattlemen Steak House on highway 70 here in Las Cruces, NM. After working there for a few years, he landed a job working for Sanez Gorditas for 13 years until he became seriously ill causing him to stop working there on his birthday February 17, 2017. Because of his illness he was not able to work since that time. His whole outlook on life changed, he could not do the things he used to do because of his unstable energy level.

 Shawn was preceded in death by his Grand Mother Inez Lister and his Uncle Henry L. Fillio. He leaves to cherish and rejoice in his memory his daughter Abriana Williams of Las Cruces, NM, his Grand Daughters Aiyana Devora and Zamia Rascon of Las Cruces, NM, his Sister, La'Shelle D. Foster of El Paso, Texas, who was at his hospital bedside when God our Heavenly Father called him home, his Brother Terrance Brown of Las Cruces, NM, his Aunt Celestine (Bobby) Jones, of Easley, South Carolina, his Uncle, Alvin (Jo Ann) Fillio of Bryan, Texas, his Uncle James (Dianne) Davis, of Florida, his Niece Marquise Foster of Las Cruces, NM, his Great Niece Ambrielle Z. D. Mapp of Las Cruces, NM, his Nephews Trenton and Taylor Brown of Las Cruces, NM, and Dexter Workman of Arizona. His Great Nephews Azari J. C. Mapp and Karlio K. Brown of Las Cruces, NM and Amias N. Workman of Arizona, his Cousin Harvetta Lynn (Billy) Monique of College Station, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.

A viewing is scheduled from 9;00 am to 10:00 am on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave. Las Cruces NM 88001.  A Service will begin at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Masonic Cemetery immediately following.
