Scott L. Moore

Scott Leon Moore, 47, of Las Cruces died Sunday, October 9, 2011, He was born June 3, 1964 in Clovis, New Mexico to Leon and Paula Moore. He graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1982 and studied business at New Mexico State University. Scott was independent insurance agent for 7 years and served on the Las Cruces City Council in 2003. From 2007-2011 he was engaged in consulting work (advertising and financial analysis) and served as court-appointed receiver and administrator of MMCI, a Memorial Medical Center retirement plan. In 2010, Scott was elected President of the Board of Las Cruces Country Club, where he enjoyed golf and working hard to improve the club. Scott was honored as Top Fundraiser for the Aggie Sports Association 1994, Associate of the Year in the Las Cruces Home Builders Association in 2002, and served on the United Way Board of Directors. Scott is survived by his wife of 14 years, Jeanene Davis Moore, his parents, Leon and Paula Moore, his brother John Moore, wife Kelliann, and nieces Kelsey, Meaghan, and Cassidy of Lovington, New Mexico, also by Jeanene's mother Helen Davis and brothers Alan Davis of Las Cruces and Rodney (and Linda) Moore of Nevada, and many other dear family members and friends. Scott will be remembered for his original humor and quick wit, as well as his thoughtfulness and unfailing willingness to be the first to extend a helping hand to any friend. A service to celebrate Scott's life will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 11:00 am.
