Santiago Martinez Chavez

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Santiago “Jimmy” Chavez on March 2, 2025. He was born on July 31, 1936 in Derry, New Mexico to Lino and Nicolasa Chavez. He was preceded in death by his parents Seven sister’s, five brother’s, his oldest daughter Christine Montoya and his grandson Joseph Segura.

He is survived by his sister Lourie, his daughters Norma Bueno, Yolanda Reyes, Dolores Mirabal, & son Santiago Chavez Jr., his wife Lupe Chavez, stepchildren Willy, Danny, Manuel, Jovana, his 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Santiago will be deeply missed.

Services for Mr. Chavez will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Getz Funeral Home 1410 Bowman Ave. at 5:00 pm and rosary will begin at 7:00pm. Mass will be held on Friday March 14, 2025 at 11:00am at San Albino Catholic Church 2280 Calle Principal. He will be laid to rest at San Albino Cemetery.

Serving as casket bearers will be Santiago Chavez Jr., Diego Herrera, Isaac Segura, Niomi Ortiz, Joel Mirabal, Domo’Nic Mirabal and Honorary casket bearers Alvina Bueno and Manuel Clark.
