Samuel M. Quintana

Samuel M. Quintana, 66, of Las Cruces, died Friday April 22, 2011. He was born Oct. 10, 1944 in El Paso, TX to Jesus and Guadalupe Quintana. Samuel was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam Era. While in the service of his country he was awarded the national Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Meritorious Unit Citation. He had been a lifelong member of the Catholic Community. Samuel enjoyed working on cars and reading but his passion was for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children Ernie, Rudy and Cindy; brother Hector Sanchez of Las Cruces; sisters Ester Matheson and husband Bob of Boulder, CO, Abby Jacquez of Las Cruces and Sara Sanchez and husband Tony of El Paso, TX. His uncle Carlos Madrid and wife Josie of Vado, NM and by nieces, nephews and cousins. Graveside Services will be held at a later date at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.
