Rudy C. Bernal

October 12, 1926 — April 24, 2006

Rudolfo (Rudy) C. Bernal Sr. 79, of Las Cruces died Monday, April 24, 2006. He was born Oct. 12, 1926 in Las Cruces to Julian and Carolina Bernal. Rudy was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably during WW II and the Korean Conflict. During his time in the military he earned the WW II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He also retired from WSMR as a Lt. from the Fire Department. Rudy had a passion for playing golf and woodworking but most of all spending time with his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Sophia Bernal of the family home; sons Rudy Bernal Jr. of Albuquerque, NM, Billy Bernal and Johnny Bernal and wife Sally all of Las Cruces; daughters Gracie Loman and husband David of Las Cruces and Janet Agro and husband Joseph of Panama City Beach, FLA; brothers Julian Bernal and wife Celia and Aaron Bernal and wife Beatrice all of Las Cruces; sisters Priscilla Sanchez and husband Cruz of Radium Springs, NM and Irene Nessinger of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Nichole, Joshua, Emily, Jordan, Marcus and Joseph. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Delia Marin. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM. The funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 27, 2006 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Masonic Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers are Joshua Nieto, Larry Bernal, Louis Bernal, Tony McRoberts, Victor Valles and Juan Lara. PDF Printable Version
