Our Lord has chosen yet another angel to join him in the kingdom of heaven as our family announces that Ruben Cuaron Giron, 85, of Las Cruces has entered eternal life on January 13, 2011 surrounded by family at Cottonbloom Assisted Living. Ruben, the oldest of 17 children, was born August 13, 1925 to Inez and Teresa Giron in Dona Ana, New Mexico. He was a member of both the Mesquite Church of Christ and University Church of Christ. He endured his heroic journey to proudly serve our country in both the U.S. Navy and U.S. Army from 1943-1952 with overseas services in Korea. He was a member of VFW Post 3242 and in the summer of 2010 he was awarded a medal of appreciation for serving our country by the City of Las Cruces. He was employed with White Sands Missile Range as a Maintenance Supervisor from 1955-1981, and from 1982-1998 with Easter Seals as a Supervisor following retirement. He will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife of 55 years Angie Giron; three daughters, Terry Castillo and husband Pancho Castillo, Sylvana Aleman and husband Guero Aleman, Stella White and husband David White; nine grandchildren, Josh Castillo and companion Devina Grijalva, Jeremy Castillo and wife Yesenia Castillo, Jeanette Melon, Armando Iniguez, Christina Iniguez and companion Ricardo Mancha, Celena Duran and husband Lupe Duran, Ernest Lucero Jr. and companion Lorenza Kasero, Madison White, and Jacob White; eleven great-grandchildren, Jordyn Castillo, Uriyah Castillo, Alyssa Melon, Desiree Melon, Zion Allen, Izaiah Iniguez, Nevaeh Iniguez, Josiah Mancha, Stefani Duran, Matthew Duran, and Tavian Lucero; one great-great-grandchild Zariah Calvillo; Sisters: Jenny Quinones, Elsie Gonzalez, Margaret Contreras, Bertha Battaion, Adelfia Monje, Christina Ramirez, Helen Lucero, Trini Marquez, and Charlene Edie "Barela"; Brothers: Ronnie Giron and Rudy Giron. Ruben is preceded in death by one son Ruben Giron Jr., parents Inez and Teresa Giron, two brothers Evaristo Giron and Martin Giron. Visitation will be held at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Avenue on Monday January 17, 2011 from 5pm-7pm. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday January 18, 2011 at 2pm at Getz Funeral Home followed by the burial at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho at 2pm where he will be laid to rest. Serving as casket bearers will be Josh Castillo, Jeremy Castillo, Armando Iniguez, Ernest Lucero Jr., Jerry Raught, Larry Raught, Rudy Giron and Raymond Chavez.
