Roy R. Garcia

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, stepfather, brother, uncle and friend Roy R. Garcia, "Pollin" on Friday, February 22, 2008 after a five year struggle with cancer. Roy was a life long resident of Dona Ana, NM where he was born January 20, 1948 in Dona Ana, NM to Quirino and Fermina Garcia. He was a retired Vector Control Officer with Dona Ana County and was a member of the Catholic Church. He will always be remembered for his love of hunting, fishing, Denver Broncos football team, TV westerns, and his endless endeavors at hitting the big jackpot. He had a passion for food and loved to cook. He was at his best when surrounded by his family and friends, especially around a big pot of his red chile meat and homemade chicharrones. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Roy is survived by his loving wife of 10 years Brenda Garcia of the family home; Step children, Jacob Espinoza and wife Diane; Carlos Espinoza and wife Angelica; Cruz Espinoza and wife Gloria; Victoria Calibozo and husband Robert; Gloria Moreno and husband Joe; Juliet Espinoza and companion Anthony all from California; brothers Bernabe Garcia of Dona Ana, NM; Andy Garcia and wife Eva of Mesilla, NM; sister, Mary Lou Contreras and husband Abraham of San Diego, CA. 12 step grandchildren; a very special niece Annette Garcia and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins. Also surviving him are his two Chihuahua dogs, Rosita and Princess. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Rosa Sandoval. The Prayer Vigil will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008 at Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church, 5525 Cristo Rey in Dona Ana. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 28, 2008 also Our Lady of Purification Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at the Dona Ana Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Miguel Macaya. Serving, as pallbearers will be Daniel Madrid, Jacinto Palomino, George Contreras, Anthony Garcia, Michael Ray Pacheco, and Andrew Pacheco. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaime Hernandez, Peter Robles and Carlos Herrera. PDF Printable Version
