Rosie T. (Aguirre) Volz Rosie T. Volz, age 92, passed away March 4, 2021 surrounded and cared for by her loving family the last days of her life. She was a life time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rosie was born in Las Cruces, NM to Francisco Telles and Sofia Triviz Telles on April 3, 1928. She was a member of one of the oldest pioneering families in the Mesilla Valley. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Michelle Townsley, sisters, Vestina Rodriguez, Sofie Narvaez, Minnie Guzman and her brothers Samuel Telles and Rudy Telles. In September, 1949 Rosie was Queen of the Mesilla Diez y Seis de Septiembre (September 16th) Fiesta. Rosie married Ted M. Aguirre on November 6, 1949, they had six children. She married Charles Volz in 1966 and they had one daughter. Rosie worked hard all her life raising seven children alone. She left high school to help support her family and was first employed by Audria Hayner Palmer. She credited Mrs. Palmer with teaching her many of the skills she used throughout her working life, even teaching her to drive. She worked at NASA, was an officer of Farmers and Merchants Bank and retired as the first woman Manager of Butte Mutual Insurance. She was a former active member of the Seroptimist International of Las Cruces a service organization. As a business woman she owned for a time Tom Carr Garage and Rosenda's Bridal Salon. Rosie was a beautiful, glamorous (even making some of her own beautiful formal dresses), generous and loving person. She had a love of decorating and had a wonderful flair for fashion. Rosie loved to read and was known to stay up half the night reading until she finished a book. She had her own library of several hundred books that was her pride and joy. Life will not be the same without her. Rosie was a most beloved mother and grandmother (Mima as she was lovingly known to her grandchildren) and is survived by six children, Yvonne Aguirre, Cynthia Moya (Joey), Ted Aguirre, Michael Aguirre (Judy), Marguerite Quinones (Bill) and Sam Aguirre (Susanne), brother, Frank Telles of Lompoc, California, 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
