Ronald P. Grossklaus entered into eternal rest Sunday May 3, 2009 at his home in Las Cruces, NM. Ron was born January 5, 1936 to his parents Samuel and Lucy Grossklaus of Muscatine Iowa. He graduated from Muscatine High in 1954. Ron served his country in the Army from 1954 thru 1957. He then attended the University of Iowa for four years earning his BS in Engineering in 1961. He worked for the John Deere Corporation in Moline, IL. from 1962 until 1968 where he owns several patents for hydraulic systems of John Deere equipment. In 1968 Ron moved to Las Cruces to work for the Raytheon Corporation on the Hawk and SamD missile projects at the White Sands Missile Range. After completing that assignment in 1980, he took a job with Martin Marietta in Denver, Colorado as an aerospace engineer designing and installing spy satellite systems. Ron retired in 1991 and returned to Las Cruces with his wife Madeline. Ron's real love was restoring and rebuilding antique cars. His prize projects were a 1935 Ford sedan and 1949 Packard deluxe convertible. He was an avid biker. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle in the Gila Mountains. He also loved fishing and playing golf. He shared many adventures with his children and grandchildren exploring, camping, fishing, boating, and many road trips on his Harley. Ron was a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, the national engineering Fraternity Theta Tau, and the Las Cruces Country Club. Ron is survived by his wife Madeline, his sister Patricia Buster and her husband Carl, his son Greg and his wife Suzi, his son Philip and his wife Judy, his daughter Karen Daubert and her husband Kerry, his daughter Tamara Shepherd and her husband Daryl. Ron is survived by his grandchildren Chris, Ben and Sam Grossklaus, Shelby and Kylie Shepherd, Mandy Ford and her husband Matt, and Jeremy Daubert. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren and a niece. At Ron's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Getz Funeral Home Chapel.
