Roberta Ernestine Yarbrough

Roberta Ernestine Yarbrough, 89, passed from this life May 31, 2021, at Mesilla Valley Hospice after a brief and unexpected illness. Roberta was born March 13, 1932 to Ernest and Anna Zybach of Briscoe, Texas. A longtime resident of Las Cruces, NM, Roberta was an accomplished author, poet, and painter who enjoyed gardening and crochet in her spare time. She was conscientiously involved in charitable efforts and was active in her church. After a long career at NMSU, Roberta retired in 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, D.T. Pruitt and Robert Yarbrough, her son, Todd Wesley Pruitt, and her granddaughter, Claire Noelle Pruitt. Roberta is survived by her sister, Lottie Marie Venable, of Las Cruces, her son, Thomas Keith Pruitt, of Sulphur, Louisiana, her daughter, Krystal Lanette Pino, of Henderson, Nevada, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and very many friends. A memorial service will be held at 11 AM at University United Methodist Church in Las Cruces June 9, 2021. The family requests that charitable contributions be made in lieu of flowers.
