Robert Lujan

October 25, 1947 — October 1, 2016

Robert A. Lujan, 68, of Las Cruces was called home by the Lord on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Although he was taken too soon, his family will be forever comforted by the fact that he had a positive impact in so many people's lives. Robert a/k/a "Bobby" was born on October 25, 1947, in Las Cruces, to Santiago and Corina Apodaca Lujan. Robert was the oldest of two sisters and two brothers, and he loved his siblings tremendously. He worked at White Sands Schools for 20 years, and did not want to retire. He absolutely loved what he did and enjoyed the company of each and every teacher and student he met. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys play, listening to music outside (preferably with a beer in his hand), going out for a drive or going four-wheeling with his daughter, sitting around the table talking for hours about life, going hunting with his brother and nephews, and watching his daughters play sports. But most of all, he enjoyed being with those that he loved. He was a loving father and he cherished his daughters. Before he passed, Robert stated, "Even though I didn't feel like I succeeded or did much in my life, my biggest success stories are you and your sister." He was extremely proud of his daughters and was a great dad. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Virginia Lujan; his daughters Monique and Michelle Lujan; Brother Jimmy Lujan and Debra; Sisters Stella Barreras and Husband Alex; and Linda Gomez; all from Las Cruces. Among so many other nephews, nieces and close family friends that he held so close to his heart. He was preceded in death by his niece Paulette Lujan, his parents Santiago and Corina Lujan and his brother Frank Lujan. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to Alex Barreras, Steve Nevarez, Javier Amador, Javier Lujan, Frank Lujan Jr., Eric Padilla, Gabriel Gomez, and Efrain Mendoza. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Lujan, Tudy Gomez, Steve Padilla, Larry Hinojosa, Isaiah Dominguez, Elias Mendoza Vega, and Chuck Bose. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm, Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Getz Funeral Home, with a Rosary from 7 pm to 8 pm. A Church service will be held at 1 pm, Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary, burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. After the services we will be heading to Elks lodge to celebrate his life. Love you Dad, you will be greatly missed!! PDF Printable Version
