Robert G. Starman, 78, of Las Cruces, NM died April 15, 2009 at his home in the company of his wife Lucilla. Bob was born August 31, 1930 in Elgin, Nebraska to Gerhard and Pauline Starman. Bob served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force and federal civil service and had been a resident of Las Cruces since 1969, following assignments in New York, Anchorage Alaska, Yuma Arizona, and Washington DC. Bob was a retired Personnel Management Specialist from WSMR and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Bob remained active after retirement, volunteering as NARFE Service Officer and at the Munson Senior Center where he provided assistance with questions on benefits, including health plans and Medicare. Bob had a great love of singing and was a charter member of the Voz Vaqueros and also sang with the Holy Cross choir. His kind and giving spirit was something very special to those who knew him. He is survived by his wife Lucilla; his son, Erik Starman and wife Connie Larsen of Hilo, Hawaii; his daughter, Melanie Starman Bash and husband Jim Bash of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Donald Starman of Elgin, Nebraska and Vernon Starman of Pasadena, California. Also surviving Bob are his two grandchildren, Annalise Kae Bash and Colton Martz Bash. At his request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Mass will be at 12:10 pm on Monday, April 20, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1327 N. Miranda, with Msgr. John Anderson, officiating.
