Rebecca Chavez Castillo, age 79, Lifelong resident of Las Cruces, Passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Mesilla Valley Hospice.
She was born on June 17, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, to Adan Chavez and Genevieve Robles. She was a self-employed Housekeeper for many years, with her lifelong friend Germina. She was a member of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
Rebecca was preceded death by her companion Alejandro Vargas Ayala.
She is survived by three sons, Johnny C. Castillo (Cathy), Victor C. Castillo, Dustin M. Castillo, One daughter, Bernadette C. Castillo, one brother, Joe Fred Rigales, Sisters, Mary H. Trejo (Joe), Rachel R. Ochoa (Jackie), Lupe A. Gonzales (Ruben), Consuelo Senidoy and Virginia Hofer (Jeff), 3 Grand-Daughters, 6 Great -Grand children, and many Nieces, Nephews, 2 Great-Nieces, and Cousins.
A Visitation will be held at Getz Funeral Home, located at 1410 E. Bowman Ave., in Las Cruces, NM, on August 5, 2024, from 5pm – 7pm, with a Prayer Vigil to follow at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church, located at 100 S. Espina St., in Las Cruces, NM, August 6, 2024, at 10am. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens located at 5140 W. Picacho Ave, in Las Cruces, NM.
Serving as pallbearers will be, Johnny C. Castillo, J.D. Valenzuela, Dereck Moore, Christopher Ochoa, Victor Queves, Michael Robles, Manny Ayala, and Manny Vargas.
Honorary Pallbearers are Joe Trejo, Jackie Ochoa, Joey Trejo and Justin Martinez.
