Raul G. Lucero, 77 of Tortugas, NM died Friday February 16, 2007, at the family home. He was born October 13, 1929 in old Mesilla to Baltazar and Isabel Lucero. He was employed by the City of Las Cruces, and retired in 1988 after 25 years of service. He was an active member of Our Lady Guadalupe Shrine & Parish in Tortugas and member of Holy Name Society of Our Lady Of Guadalupe. Raul is survived by Aurora his wife of 46 years, sons Frank Nevarez and wife Kathleen of Cottonwood, AZ., Gilbert Lucero and wife Angela of Rio Rancho, NM, Joey Lucero of Roswell, NM and daughter Gloria Baum of Stillwater, OK. He is also survived by 10 grandsons, Daniel Nevarez, Micha Nevarez, Dominic Lopez, Patrick Lucero, Matthew Baum, Albert Baum, Phillip Lucero, Joey Zavala, Robert De Palma and Noah Lucero. Three granddaughters Michaya Nevarez, Tiffany Baum and Crystal Lucero, and one great-grandson Donovan Lopez. He is also survived by two brothers Baltazar Lucero, and Mike Lucero, and five sisters Consuelo Salas, Felicitas Ramirez, Gloria Carrillo, Rosella Lucero and Irma Rodriquez. Raul is preceded in death by his son Richard "Dickie" Lucero and his parents. The visitation will be held from 6 to 7 PM on Monday, February 19, 2007 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine & Parish, 3600 Parroquia St., Mesilla Park where the Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be given at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, also at Our Lady of Guadalupe. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at the Tortugas Cemetery. Officiating will be Fr. Don Adamski. Pallbearers will be Orlando Carrillo, Phillip Lucero, CJ Miller, Chris Rodriquez, Joshua Ruiz and Marcos Trujillo. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
