Pilar G. Ortega Sr.

Pilar G. Ortega Sr. 93 lifelong resident of the Mesilla Valley died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007. He was born March 27, 1913 in Chamberino, NM to Epimenio and Rosalia Garcia Ortega. Pilar was a retired construction worker from the Labor Union #16. He loved to work in his garden and spend time with his family. Mr. Ortega will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his son Pilar Ortega Jr. and wife Myrna of Los Alamitos, CA; daughters Aurora Gallegos and husband Gene of Albuquerque, NM, Rosa Romero and husband Pete of Las Cruces, Cristina Carrasco and husband Natividad of Wilmington, CA, Maria Elena Amezola and husband Ruben of San Pablo, NM, Emma Hernandez and husband Jesus and Lala Sanchez and husband Gilbert all of El Paso, TX. Many grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive Pilar. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Aurora, four sisters and three brothers. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Monday, Feb. 26, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7 PM. Pilar's funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2007 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral with Fr. Sean Garrity officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Masonic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mr. Ortega's grandsons. PDF Printable Version
