Our beloved mother and loving friend Margaret "Peggy" H. Carroll has been enveloped by the angels wings and guided to heaven to be with Jesus, Mary and all his saints on November 3rd, 2009 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Our mother had a long and brave battle with cancer for 13 years. She was born in Pawcatuck Connecticut Feb. 5th, 1924 to Katherine (Tully) Kendzia of Ireland and Sylvester J. Kendzia of Germany. She moved to Washington D.C. in her 20's and worked as a secretary for a General Stationed at the Pentagon. She met our father Lt. Col. John K. Carroll and was married in 1951. They traveled around the world living in Okinawa, Japan; Tehran, Iran; Heidelberg Germany; Chicago, Ill., Alexandria Virginia and finally moving to New Mexico in 1966. She has lived in Las Cruces since 1969. She was a graduate of Stonington High School and went on for further training as a stenographer in the 1940's in the 70's and then attended NMSU and became a medical transcriber. She worked as a Federal Employee at WBAMC for many years. Upon retiring in the 1980's she continued to be very active enjoying eating out and seeing shows in Las Vegas, with her dear friend and companion Gus McDonald. Our mother had a zest for life she loved ballroom and country western dancing. She always missed living by the ocean listening to the waves and eating lobster at Abbots Lobster House in Mystic, Conn. She was a wonderful cook and loved to entertain. She is survived by her daughters,Margaret (Peggy) Carroll Tornberg and Spouse Wolfgang Tornberg, Kathleen M. Carroll, and Jeanne M. Bates and spouse Jared Bates; Grandchildren, Jerry Davis and wife Beverly and great grandchild Maria; Linda and spouse Matt Glaser and great grandchild Elizabeth, Elise Aimee Carroll, Ian Bates. She was preceded in death by Katherine (Tully) Kendzia of Ireland, Sylvester Kendzia of Germany; Brothers Frank. Joseph, Johnny and her sisters Marie Cella Kendzia and Katherine Kendzia. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a prayer vigil at 1:00 PM and the funeral mass at 1:30 PM on Friday November 6, 2009 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral Interment at St. Michael's New Cemetery, Westerly, Rhode Island will follow.
