Peggy Ruth Gibson, 93, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14th, 2025, at Solstice Assisted Living. She was born on August 17th, 1931, in Colbert, Oklahoma to John and Ruby Mills. Peggy was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her loving husband, Edward Lee Gibson, 97, and five children: Gary, Bruce (deceased), Terry, Connie, and Craig. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Peggy moved from Oklahoma to Las Cruces at the age of thirteen, where she soon met her future husband, Ed. They were married when she was fifteen, on October 7th, 1946. Never leaving Las Cruces, they were married for 78 wonderful years. Starting their life together living in a one-room shack with a dirt floor, they spent their last 65 years in their home on Highway 28, south of Mesilla.

As a Family and Household Manager, Peggy worked full-time raising five children. Not only was she a seamstress, quilter, artist, teacher, and very active at First Baptist Church, she also assisted in the family business, Dutch’s Market.

Steadfast in her faith, Peggy was always there to help and encourage people. Above all, she was the most wonderful loving wife, mother, and friend that anyone could hope for. Many lives were touched by her presence on this earth. Although she will be missed dearly, the angels and her heavenly family are rejoicing.
