Pedro Escapita Sr.

Pedro Escapita SR, 79, of Las Cruces, died Saturday, April 1, 2006. He was born Oct. 23, 1926 in El Paso, TX to Federico and Soledad Escapita. Pedro had been a lifelong farmer in the Mesilla Valley and will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years Luz M. Escapita of the family home. His 12 children Oscar Escapita and wife Lourdes, Guerrero Escapita and wife Yolanda, Fernando Escapita and wife Maria Teresa, Pedro Escapita Jr, Mario Escapita, Socorro Calderon and husband Enrique, Ramona Ibarra and husband Jose Luis, Irma Pacheco and husband Roberto, Manuela Morales and husband Manuel, Reina Cereceres and husband Mario, Angelica Ramos and husband Arturo and Mayela Ortega and husband Guillermo all of Las Cruces. Pedro is also survived by his 36 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Pedro, his daughter Rosa Guevara and brother Ramon. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Tuesday April 4, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 7:00 PM. The funeral mass is at 2:00 PM on Wednesday April 5, 2006 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathedral with Fr. Ricardo Bauza officiating. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
