Paul G. McIntyre, beloved husband and father, passed away November 5, 2005 at 77 years of age. He was born November 25, 1927 in Marlow, Oklahoma to the late John and Effie Day Todd McIntyre. He graduated from Marlow High School and joined the U.S. Army. He obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education at Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma. Paul was a teacher and coached both baseball and basketball at Cox City and Central High, both in Oklahoma. After moving to New Mexico he taught and coached in Mesilla Park and Hatch. In 1959, Paul became an agent with State Farm Insurance in Las Cruces and retired in 1995. Paul was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a former member of the Lions Club and Optimist International. He served as Campaign Chairman for the March of Dimes, past president of Southwest Life Underwriters, S.U.G.A. Golf, Treasurer of the NMSU Senior Men's Golf Association and was a member of the Aggie Booster Club. He also served as a volunteer instructor for AARP Defensive Driving Classes and enjoyed his many friends in his Tai Chi classes at Munson Senior Center. He loved playing golf and cards. He enjoyed bowling and attending Aggie football, basketball, baseball and volleyball games. Paul is survived by his wife, Evelyn, and his daughter Paula McIntyre Leighton of Las Cruces; his brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Hazel McIntyre of Bossier City, Louisiana and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jean and Roy Byrd of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He is also survived by nephews and nieces and their families; Mr. and Mrs. John McIntyre of Austin, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Meier of Bossier City, Louisiana; Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McIntyre of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Val Newton of Yukon, Olkahoma, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fonck of Wichita Falls, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Danny Tiller, of Amarillo, Texas; Mrs. Randi Sullivan of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bryant of Hobbs, New Mexico and Brad Hindman of San Angelo, Texas. Paul was preceded in death by his son, James "Dar" Duke, his parents, his twin sisters and their husbands, Mabel and Marthan Hearn and Mildred and Leon Autry, his brother, Harold McIntyre, his nephew Lynn McIntyre and the mother of his daughter Paula, Ann Simon. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services are on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at 10:00 am at Calvary Baptist Church, 1800 S. Locust with Reverend Lyle Lionbarger and Reverend Steve Foss officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Garden Cemetery at 5140 W. Picacho Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church or the Gospel Rescue Mission, 1050 W. Amador Ave. Las Cruces, NM. Serving, as pallbearers will be Bob Fonck, Bruce McIntyre, Don Moore, Roy Byrd, Mike Apodaca, John Shangreaux, Jimmy Jaramillo, and Marvin Mathis.
