Paul De La O

PAUL "ELVIS" DE LA O, 63, of Dona Ana entered eternal life on April 12, 2015. He passed away peacefully in his home. Paul was born in Las Cruces, NM to Aaron and Esther De La O on February 21, 1952. Paul proudly served his country as an Sp4 in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, one of the last combat units remaining in the Vietnam war. While in the military, he received a National Defense Service medal, Army Commendation medal, and Rifle Marksman medal. Following his discharge, he was employed at White Sands Missile Range for over 20 years as a Physical Science Tech, tracking missiles. In his free time, Paul enjoyed drafting blue prints and designing homes, playing his guitars, cooking, and listening to music. He was the happiest in the company of his children and grandchildren, as well as his many close friends. Survivors include his son, Carl De La O (Denise), his daughter, Veronica De La O, brothers Ernie and James De La O and sister, Nancy Montoya (Mike); grandchildren, Xavier De La O, Bryce Carroll, Delilah De La O, Ian Carroll, Jasmarie Robles-De La O, and Carys Ontiveros. He is preceded in death by his parents Aaron De La O, Sr. and Esther; brothers: Leroy Garcia, Aaron Jr., Frank and Albert De La O. Rosary will be held Thursday, April 16th at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Purification in Dona Ana. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 17th at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Purification. Per his request cremation will follow. Pallbearers are Ernie, James, Jessie and Mike De La O, Jaime Trevino, Daniel Madrid and Jaime Escalante. Honorary Pallbearers are Belsan (Shorty) Chavez, Andy Barela, Michael Barela, Ernie, Anthony, James, Johnny, Aaron, Isaac, Brian, Randy, Ronnie and Paul De La O.
