Patricia Herrera

July 6, 1958 — August 9, 2024

Patricia Murphy Herrera, a beautiful and gracious soul passed away on August 9, 2024, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Born to Juanita and Raymundo Murphy in El Paso, Texas on July 6, 1958, Patricia’s life was a tapestry of love, selflessness, generosity and grace.

Patricia’s journey began as humble beginnings, second to the youngest, being raised alongside 13 brothers and sisters. Her childhood was filled with the simple joys in life and the selfless acts of a mother and father’s love for their children, all which laid the foundation for one of God’s angels. After graduating from Jefferson High School, she shortly met and married the love of her life Carlos Herrera on November 8, 1980. They married at the San Elizario Mission Church in San Elizario, Texas. Their marriage was a testament to love, sacrifice, commitment and generosity. Together they raised two loving children DeAnn Herrera and Carlos Herrera.

For over 40 years Patricia pursued a career in Bookkeeping and Accounting whilst managing to shape and mold her two children alongside several nieces and nephews. Unbeknownst to anyone she became her family’s and close friend’s navigator; our moral compass in life. Her generosity and selfless acts shined like a beacon to all.

In her spare time she enjoyed gardening and a variety of crafts, such as soap making, wood carving, painting and quilting. She enjoyed spending time with fellow members of the Red Hat Society. Daily she read the Christian Bible and Messianic-Jewish scriptures, as well as studied the Hebrew language. Throughout the years her love and faith in Christ grew and soon became the focal point of her life. Her life embodied God’s grace on a daily basis. Her children and grandchildren will forever cherish the memories of her comforting words of encouragement, guidance and never ending love.

Patricia’s memory is honored by her husband, Carlos Herrera; her children DeAnn Herrera (Norma Romero, spouse) and Carlos Herrera (Melissa Herrera, spouse); grandchildren Ramon Romero, Harleen Herrera and Ivy Herrera; siblings Francis Ayala, Linda Scott, Margie Hinojos, Francisco Murphy, Ricardo Murphy, and John Murphy.

Services to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held on September 7, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave., Las Cruces, New Mexico.
