Patricia Ann De Braal

January 18, 1955 — January 28, 2005

Patricia Ann De Braal (Patti) was born on January 18, 1952 in Deming New Mexico to Dorothy and Herman Vannatter. She passed away January 28, 2005 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She died at the young age of 53. Patti had been a resident of Las Cruces since 1988. She loved living in this community and donated much of her time and heart to various organizations in order to help others. She was a member of the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In life, she was always a hard working woman with a strong spirit for life. She loved giving to others and always gave of herself to those in need. Her greatest enjoyment in life was participating in the local 4th of July lighted parade and the lighted Christmas parade in Silver City New Mexico, winning a trophy each and every year she participated. She also enjoyed working in her yard and took great pride in her rose garden. Patti is survived by her loving husband of twenty-eight years John Robert De Braal Jr., his parents John and Joann De Braal of Bayard New Mexico, her three children Becky and her husband Jeff Hanks of Brewton, Alabama, Yvonne and her husband Shane Mouchette of Las Cruces, New Mexico and her son John R. De Braal III and his companion Donna Rae of Clute Texas. She is also survived by her mother Dorothy Vannatter, sister Dianna and her husband Clay Weatherby of Las Cruces, sister-in-Law Cheryl Schwabe of Arizona and three brothers Ronnie, George and Jimmy all of Silver City, New Mexico. Patti loved and adored her nine grandchildren Stefni, Wendy, Zachary, Sarah, Emily, Abby, Valorie, Nicholas and Dakota. They are all truly saddened by their grandmother's death and will miss her immensely. She was also blessed to have a wonderful God-mother in her life, Margaret Carrillo of Silver City whom she cherished dearly. She is also survived by numerous friends, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and all other family members we were unable to mention. She will be sorely missed by all of us. Patti was preceded in death by her loving father Herman Vannatter, grandmother Dorothy Goff, aunt Erma Simpson, aunt Betty Morrow and her sister-in-law Roberta De Braal. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Wash and all of her staff, Dr. Zahir, Dr. Feil, Dr. Dow and his team members, and her caregiver Martha Gutierrez for their support throughout her illness. We would not have had her in our lives as long as we did if not for their diligent support and comfort during her time of need. The family is kindly requesting that in lieu of flowers; please make donations to the Southern New Mexico Cancer Center. Graveside services have been arranged by Getz Funeral Home and will be held on Wednesday February 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at the Masonic Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Bishop Andreasen of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. PDF Printable Version
