Pamela Kaye Nelson, 67, of Radium Springs, NM, was tragically taken on April 30, 2024. She was born on December 11, 1956, in El Paso, TX to Robert Nolan and Pauline Brose (Oldfather) Lester. Pam graduated from Burges High School in El Paso, TX. She then attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, TX and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Pam married her beloved husband, Clark, and they were blessed with two sons, Morgan Robert, and Garrett Nolan. Pam and Clark were married for more than 38 years. Pam worked as an Office Manager throughout her career and retired from the New Mexico State University Department of Education in 2016. Pam enjoyed crafting, thrifting, and collecting bears, moose, and dachshunds. Pam fiercely loved her family and relished the role of “Grammy Bear” to her grandkids. She was deeply caring and valued being a mother.


Pam is survived by Clark of the family home in Radium Springs; her oldest son Morgan Robert Nelson of Minneapolis, MN; her youngest son Garrett Nolan Nelson and wife Emily of Fruita, CO, two grandchildren Charlotte and Nolan of Fruita, CO; sisters, Susan Lester, and Missie Lester-Mejia; mother-in-law, Erma Nelson; brother-in-law, John and Betty Nelson; sister-in-law, Brenda and Glenn Criddle; and numerous other family members around the country.


Preceding her in death were her parents, Robert and Pauline Lester, her sister, Janie Parker, and her father-in-law, Clyde Robert Nelson.


A Celebration of Pam’s Life will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, starting at 9:00am, with the formal service starting 10:00am, at the Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave, Las Cruces, NM 88001. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Rd, Las Cruces, NM 88011, to further celebrate Pam's life.


Pam will be deeply missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all those who have reached out and supported them during this time.
