Olga Benavidez Torres

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother and friend, Olga B. Torres, 68, of Las Cruces, NM (formerly of Chamberino, NM). She passed on March 8th, 2025, in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family and loyal puppy companion, Lucky.

Olga was born November 12, 1956, in Anthony, TX to Antonio Benavidez and Lorenza Ruiz Benavidez. She was a 1975 graduate of Gadsden High School and moved to Las Cruces shortly after.

Olga was a loving sweet soul who carried a beautiful smile to all who knew her. She enjoyed dancing, singing and listening to Juan Gabriel. Easter was her favorite holiday, and she made sure to go all out for her loved ones. Olga spent many years as the family cook and worked beside her brother Kevin, at Tommy’s Cake Shop. She also cared for her mother, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed western movies.

Olga is preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Lorenza Benavidez, brothers Baby Antonio Benavidez Jr., Antonio, “Tony” Benavidez Jr, Rumaldo, ”Ronnie” Kevin Benavidez, sister Irma B. Alvarado and niece Lisa Alvarado.

She is survived by her children, Jessica B. Torres (David Guerrero), George Antonio Torres (Cesar) and Grandchildren: Pete and Paul Uranga and Jude, Malachi, and Jeremiah Franco. 

Brothers and Sisters: Norma R. Benavidez (Chamberino, NM), Geronimo Benavidez (Chamberino, NM), Eva Hinojosa (Tito) Las Cruces, NM, Alice B. Valles (Max) Albuquerque, NM, Bobby Benavidez, Las Cruces, NM and Irene Rodela (Art) El Paso, TX.

Godchildren: Rebecca Acosta, Jason Arrellano, Danielle Denise Benavidez and Chloe Benavidez. She had numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.

The viewing for Olga will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, March 21, 2025, with a service to follow at 11:00 am at Getz Funeral Home. The burial will take place at a later date in Chamberino, NM.
