Nancy A. Coleman passed away August 14, 2010 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, June 1, 1935. After graduating from Ottumwa High School she attended Williams Woods College in Fulton, Missouri and then the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She then worked for G. D. Serle & Co. in Skokie, Illinois where she became a registered patent agent. After marrying Monte Coleman in 1960 and moving to Aberdeen, Maryland she worked for Thiokol Chemical Corporation and went on to receive her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Maryland and became a patent lawyer. She was interested in musical activities, being a choir director for St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Aberdeen and singing in the Harford Choral Society. After practicing law in Maryland for many years she moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she was active in the Las Cruces Symphony Guild and various activities at Peace Lutheran Church. She began a serious study of family geneology and of her Swedish background, making two trips to Sweden to study the Swedish language and look for family records. She also did substitute teaching, usually of science and math at the high school level. Her death was due to complications following heart surgery. She is survived by her husband, Monte, and her children Kathleen Maraschin of Grand Junction, Colorado and David Coleman of San Diego, California. Services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church, 1701 Missouri, Las Cruces, New Mexico, on Saturday, August 21, at 11:00.
