May Buckland Rogers Drown, 97, died Saturday, March 12, 2011. May was born in Vermont where she spent the first 83 years of her life, having lived in Worcester, Burlington, Stowe, Newport, and Montgomery Center. She later lived in Tucson, AZ before moving to Las Cruces, NM in 2004 to be near her children. A UVM graduate, May was a teacher and librarian at Newport High School and North Country Union. She was a painter, who enjoyed working with watercolor, oils, acrylics and pastels. May was known for her positive energy, adventurous spirit and life-long love of learning. May leaves a son, Dan H. Rogers, his wife Kathleen, and a daughter, Gail Makowsky, all of Las Cruces, NM. She also leaves five grandchildren: Gregory Rogers of Clearwater, FL, Mark Rogers and his wife, Jolene of Shelton, CT, Christopher Rogers and daughter, Logan of Los Angeles, CA, Jennifer Makowsky and her husband Raul Rodriguez and son, Adrian of Tucson, AZ, and Lynn Makowsky and her husband, Ernest Hilbert of Philadelphia, PA. May leaves a niece and nephew: Holly Buckland Parker and her family of Essex Jct., VT, and David Buckland and his family of Shelburne, VT. PDF Printable Version
