Mary Sue Gahris

Mary "Sue" Gahris, age 90, passed away July 4, 2021 at The Aristocrat in Las Cruces. She was predeceased by her husband Jim in 2011, and their daughter Janet Gahris Hartwig in 1999, as well as Sue's sister, Barbara and a brother, John. She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Willa and a grandson, David. Mary Sue, an accomplished pianist and music graduate, lived with her husband in Ohio where Jim worked for Ohio Power and Electric and Sue taught piano lessons and raised their two children until Jim's retirement when they moved to Socorro, NM. They eventually moved to Las Cruces to the Good Samaritan Village and lived there until Sue moved to The Aristocrat in 2019. In her last months, Sue was very well cared for by the staff at The Aristocrat and the caregivers of Alpha Nurses in Las Cruces. Sue will be missed by many who knew her and cared for her. She will be remembered for playing the piano in many musical concerts and special entertainment at the Good Samaritan during her tenure there. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to Mesilla Valley Hospice (La Posada) in Las Cruces. Sue had a special place in her heart for them for their tireless and compassionate care for her husband and daughter.
