She was born October 19, 1925 in Tucson, Ariz. to Jack and Myrtle Conelly. "Scottie" as her family and friends fondly knew her was a retired telephone operator for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. as was her husband of 55 years, Leonard Gillis, who preceded her in death Dec. 13,2001. Survivors include two daughters, Betty Sue Neal and husband Clark of Hatch, NM and Mary Lou Tharp and husband Rod of Las Cruces, NM. Five grandchildren, Ronnie Neal, wife T'Lynn of Las Cruces, Richard Neal and wife Lisa of Hatch, Susan Wamel and husband Van Wamel of Las Cruces, Ty Tharp of Denver, CO. and Jaylene Delk and husband Byron Delk of Las Cruces. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful sister, friend, wife, mother and grandmother throughout her life. We were all so very blessed to have known her and will cherish all the many memories she has left us. Many of life's loveliest things are quite plentiful in number .like the stars that shine, fields of wildflowers and brilliant sunsets. But there is just ONE of the most beautiful gifts of all. . . . .. . . .and she's called Mother. Scottie was preceded in death by her parents Gay and Myrtle Conelly, three brothers Bobby Conelly, Donald Conelly and Wilbur Conelly, and two sisters Louise LaRue and Marjorie Grabe. A graveside service is planned and will be held at 10:00am on Saturday March 25, 2006 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Hatch, NM. Rev. Jim Wood of the Church of God will be officiating. Family and friends are welcomed to gather at the Church of God after the ceremony to share in her memory.
