Mary Ellen Dickerson

March 15, 1943 — February 20, 2012

MaryEllen Dickerson was called home to be with the LORD on Feb. 20th, 2012. She was in the comfort of her home, with her two favorite nieces. She was born Mary Ellen Ferguson to Cecil and Katie Ferguson on Mar. 15th, 1943. The sixth of seven children, she was the apple of her Mothers eye. She has now joined them all in glory, waiting on the rest of us to come. What a reunion! Her only child, Ronald Gail was born in 1962. He was a precious, loving delight to all of us! Mary Ellen graduated H.S. in Silver City in 1961. When Ronnie was five she resumed her education, obtaining a Certificate Of Secretarial Training in 1967. She worked in the Engeneering Department at NMSU until retiring after 25 yrs. of service In 1982 she married the love of her life, Lester. Long time residents of Las Cruces probably have seen them out on the town, dancing the night away. They were a great, loving, and fun loving couple. We had wonderful times with them! Mary Ellen enjoyed reading, dancing, bowing, fishing, country music and needle works. Probably her greatest passion was crafts. Everything she did, she did well, a perfectionist, she did really beautiful work! She loved children, especially babies! Her sister and her had an in-home day care, and loved every minute of it. She formed lasting relationships with those children, but she held Cameron Anderson extremely close to her heart. She has left an empty place in many of us. Some are her nieces, Marie Attaway-Linder, Beverly Thorn, and Debbie Lock-Ramsey. Also remaining are her Father & Mother in law, Clifford and Wanda Dickerson, her brother in law, Patrick Attaway, and sister in law, Betty Garcia. Her very best, and precious friends Sue McGregor, Karen Moreheart, Joy Ellis and Violet McCormick. There are countless others, but she loved every one of them! Words can't express just how much we will miss her, nor how much laughter and love she brought to all of us. We are all getting together on her birthday at The Hill Baptist Church in Dona Ana between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. Maybe she can inspire some eloquence in us, she would have loved to have thought she could! She enjoyed teaching everything that she knew. Please take your lunch hour and join us for a Mexican fiesta pot-luck, her favorite! Feel free to share your stories and antidotes. We are gathering to celebate the gift of her life that HE loaned us for a little while PDF Printable Version
