Marvin Young

Master Sergeant Marvin Arthur Young beloved Father, Husband, Pepa, Brother, Uncle, and friend passed away Feb 26, 2018; at the age of 87. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Wilma Young; his children, Alesia Young of Boerne, TX; Mitchell Young and wife Sharon of Capitan, NM; Cindy Weaver and husband Chad of Chandler, AZ; his grandchildren, Justin Young, Kameron Weaver, Jake Young, Morgan Jackson, Joshua Young, Merina Jackson and Savanna Weaver; and special little friend Braxton Herrera-Adam and as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Marvin was born March 8, 1930 in Florence, AZ; the last born son of William and Beulah Young. He moved to NM at a young age and attended Sunshine School in Deming, NM. He joined the Air Force during the Korean War and was deployed to several OCONUS locations. His favorite location was by far England where he learned to enjoy the warm stout beer they served. At the peak of Marvin's Air Force Career, he was one of the instructors who taught others on munitions loading for the B-52 aircraft. Once he was stationed at Walker AFB in Roswell, NM; he met and married the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Wilma June. His military service called him to Vietnam, as well as many other state-side locations. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked in Silver City, NM for Phelps Dodge. The greatest joys in the later part of his life were reading his bible, tending his yard, woodworking, and being involved in the lives of his 7 grandchildren. Marvin was preceded in death by his first wife, LaVerne Scott of Lordsburg, NM; as well as his 5 older brothers. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves memories no one can steal. Visitation for Mr Young will begin at 5pm Friday March 2, 2018 at Mesilla Park Community Church 1040 El Paseo Rd, Las Cruces, NM 88001. Funeral Services will begin at 6pm. Internment services will be at Fort Bliss National Cemetery Monday March 5, 2018 at 9:30am. First Visitation
