Marvin M. James

Marvin M. James, 76, of Las Cruces, died Thursday, March 30, 2006. He was born May 30, 1929 in Erie, CO to Michael and Angelina James. Marvin was a veteran of the US Army where he served his country honorably in Germany and was awarded the Army Occupation Medal. He was also retired after 41 years as a Reality Specialist with the Bureau of Land Management where he was instrumental in acquiring land for the Field of Dreams, A.B. Cox Visitor Center, Dripping Springs Natural Area, La Cueva Picnic Area, Aguirre Springs and also in transferring property for the schools: Sunrise, Cesar E. Chavez, Desert Hills, Onate and Camino Real. He was a devoted member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and enjoyed playing Pinochle at the Munson Senior Center. Mr. James will be deeply missed by all his family and friends who knew and loved him. Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 46 years Gail James of the family home; daughters Anna Marie Rios and husband Ralph of Las Cruces, Mary Carol Kolbenschlag and husband Christopher of Boulder, CO and Patty-James Jaramillo and husband Thomas of Albuquerque, NM; brother Donald James and wife Maxine of Las Vegas, NV and by his grandchildren Brianna, Derek, Joshua, Caleb, Sophia and Julian. A prayer vigil will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday April 5, 2006 at Getz Funeral Home. The funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 6, 2006 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Msgr. John Anderson officiating. Rite of Committal will follow at Masonic Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers are Derek Rios, Gordo Castillo, Louie Apodaca, Chris Kolbenschlag, Rafer Burnham and Thomas Jaramillo. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice 299 E.
