Marjorie Rymer

Marjorie Lois Vandaveer Rymer, 85, was called to the Lord on 7/12/16. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 28, 1930 to Dr. Fredrick E. and Esther Vandaveer. Marjorie graduated from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where she met the one true love of her life, David McColl Rymer. They were married on July 3, 1954 in Lakewood, OH and were blessed with 54 years of marriage. After graduating from Denison, David served in the U.S. Army 3rd Cavalry and 11th Armored Cavalry for two years. After getting out of the Army, Marjorie and David moved to Denver, CO where her first son, Daniel, was born; then she and her family moved to Winter Park, FL, where her next son, Robert was born. She later moved with her family to Minneapolis, MN, and then to Dixon, IL where her daughter, Jennifer, was born. From there, she lived with her family in Kansas City, MO and then in Adrian, MI. In 1975, the family moved to Pocatello, ID where Marjorie received her master's degree in Special Education from Idaho State University and taught at schools in Pocatello and Blackfoot before moving to Roswell, NM. In Roswell, David retired from the YMCA and Marje and Dave bought a wholesale packaging company, R Packaging. They ran this company as a team for 13 years. Marje and Dave moved to Las Cruces, NM in 2005 where they attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church. After Dave's death in 2008, Marje moved to the Heritage Assisted Living Center and received companion services with Home Instead. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Fredrick Vandaveer, Jr., her daughter-in-law Cherie Rymer and her husband, David Rymer. She is survived by her son, Daniel McColl Rymer, and his children, Danielle Cooley (husband Darren) and son Jaxon, and Jacob Rymer (wife Brittany), who live in Pocatello, ID; her son, Robert V. Rymer and his wife, Amy, and their daughter Valeri who live in McAlester, OK and their children Dawna Beatty (husband James) and son Riker who live in Portales, NM, Jared Rymer (fianc Amanda Katros) who live in Albuquerque, NM; and her daughter Jennifer Huckabee and her husband Jeff, and their children, Katie, Becky, Ellie and Zoey who live in Centennial, CO. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Richard Rymer, and his wife, Elizabeth, and their children Nancy Queenan and Russell Rymer. A memorial service will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Las Cruces, NM at 11 a.m. Her ashes will be laid to rest at First United Methodist Church in Roswell, NM alongside David's ashes. The Rymer family would like to extend gratitude to Alice Corral at Home Instead Senior Care for 6 years of service with Marjorie . In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heritage Assisted Living Center, Mesilla Valley Hospice or the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, CO, her favorite family vacation spot.
