Marjorie Field

January 12, 1920 — December 12, 2009

Marjorie "Ruth" Field passed on to eternal life, peacefully, surrounded by family at La Posada Hospice Facility on December 12, 2009. She was born in Burden, Kansas to Charles and Anna Barnes on January 12, 1920. Ruth lived on the family farm in Kansas until she left to attend college, where she met and later married Harry Field. Harry joined the Air Force and made it his career, retiring as a Colonel after 30 years of service. Their years in the military allowed them to travel and live throughout the United States as well as overseas. Ruth fondly spoke of the lasting friendships and interesting experiences during those years. While living in California, Ruth earned her Master's Degree in Education and went on to be a schoolteacher. Ruth and Harry eventually settled in Elephant Butte, NM in 1975, where they lived a quiet but active life, enjoying the beauty of the Lake and forging many close friendships. Ruth had a love of learning and enjoyed reading, sewing, and cooking. She moved to Las Cruces, NM in 2001 and resided at the Village at Northrise until this past September. She was preceded in death by her husband and children, and survived by her daughter-in-law, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was loved by family and will be missed by them and those who knew her. The family wishes to express many thanks and much appreciation to the staff and caregivers at the Village at Northrise, Valle Vista Home Assistance and Mesilla Valley Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to La Posada, Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 E. Montana Ave., Las Cruces, NM 88005. PDF Printable Version
