Maria J. Montoya

Maria J. Montoya, 88, of Las Cruces died Monday, July 4, 2011. She was born Dec. 10, 1922 in Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico to Lucio and Josefa Jimenez. Maria was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Tortugas, NM. She enjoyed working in her garden, watching the Dodgers play baseball and going to play bingo, but her passion was for her family. Maria will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter Minerva Torrez and husband Mario of Alamogordo, NM; Brothers Ramon Jimenez and wife Emma of Vado, NM and Felipe Jimenez of Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico; sisters Lucrecia Melendez and Teresa Bejarano both of Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico. Also surviving her are two grandsons Lorenzo and Alejandro Torrez and by nieces, nephews and cousins. Maria was preceded in death by her loving husband Pedro Montoya, brother Lucio and Sisters Lucy, Rosalia, Maria Luisa and Lupe. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:00 am on Friday, July 8, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where a prayer vigil will follow at 10:00 am. Maria's funeral mass to celebrate her life will immediately follow the prayer vigil. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The honor of being a pallbearer goes to Fernando Lopez, Ray Montoya, Robert Gonzales, Ramon Jimenez Jr., Ramon Jimenez III and Alejandro Torrez. PDF Printable Version
