Margaret Edna Nick

Margaret Edna Nick, 97 of Las Cruces, NM died Friday, December 30, 2005 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born May 30, 1908 in Union, Pennsylvania to Jacob K. and Elizabeth Garlick. Margaret was a Las Cruces resident for about the last ten years coming from Des Plaines, Illinois. She was a devoted Christian and enjoyed her arrowhead hunting and walks in the desert while singing Amazing Grace. Margaret was an accomplished seamstress and loved to crochet. A loving woman with an awesome sense of humor she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Margaret is survived by two daughters, Gloria Schmidt and her husband David; and Roma Oates and her husband Ronnie. One brother Elwood Garlick. Grandchildren, Rodd Schmidt and wife Julie; Randie Schmidt; Jean Maratos and husband Pete; Debbie Etzler and husband Randy; Terry Oates and wife Melissa; and Rick Oates. Great grandchildren, David Combs; Makie and Jacob Maratos; and Julie, Kevin and Brian Oates. Also surviving Margaret are her step grand children, Chis, Donnie, Dawn, Heidi, Tina, Froso and Gerri; and one great-great grandchild, Jackson. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Nick; four brothers, Ted, Ralph, Shelly and Walter, and two sisters, Hazel and Ethel. No funeral services are scheduled locally. Margaret will have funeral services and burial in Cary, Illinois at Windridge Funeral Home and Cemetery. SHE WAS THE ONLY ANGEL I EVER KNEW TO WALK THIS EARTH.
