In Loving Memory of Lucia (Lucy) Cuellar Jimenez

Lucia Cuellar Jimenez, age 71, passed away on August 21, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 13, 1952, Lucia brought immense joy to those around her. She was born in Anthony, NM to Jose and Manuela Cuellar.

Lucia's journey touched the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of strength and resilience. Her unwavering spirit in the face of adversity was an inspiration to all who knew her. She loved cooking, loved being around family, raised grandkids, although she did not have a lot, she was a very generous person and would give you her shirt off her back if she could. As a part-time cook, Lucia mainly stayed at home as a homemaker taking care of her family. She was a devoted Catholic with a tremendous heart.

Lucia will be remembered for her heartwarming kindness, compassion, the willingness to always give and never want anything in return, her unforgiving love in and the positive impact she had on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Lucia is survived by her Loving Husband, Esteban Jimenez, Son, Carlos Jimenez and his wife (Marianne Hernandez-Jimenez) and Daughter Andrea Jimenez. She also had another son Esteban “Stevie” Jimenez Jr. who passed away in 2000 whom she loved unconditionally. Grandchildren April and Adrian Medrano, Savannah, Elijah and Eliana Jimenez and Victoria and Nicole Dominguez and Great Grandchildren Annaly, Elliot Jacob, Adalyn Zuniga, Anastasia Becerra and Great Greatgrandchildren Maya, Serenity, Delilah, Isabel, Azaleah, Aaron, and Aleyah and many, many loving family and friends, who will forever hold dear Lucia’s memory. She is proceeded in death by her sister Mary Helen Tucker. Her surviving siblings are Pepe Cuellar, Lola Montelongo, Esther Garcia, Eliseo Cuellar, Demetrio Cuellar, Delfino Cuellar, Irma Quintana, and Isabel Cuellar.

Pallbearers will be Demetrio Cuellar Jr., Michael Cuellar, Louie Cuellar, Eric Jimenez, Delfino Cuellar and Gabriel Cuellar. 

A public viewing will be held on September 3, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, with the Rosary to follow at 7:00pm to 7:30pm at Getz Funeral Home, located at 1410 E. Bowman Ave, Las Cruces, NM. The funeral service to honor and celebrate Lucia's life will be held on September 4, at 10:00am at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church, located at 1178 N. Mesquite St., Las Cruces, NM. Followed by mass there will be a reception at Elks Lodge, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm, located at 3000 Elks Dr., Las Cruces, NM, 88005.

May Lucia rest in eternal peace, free from pain, and may her memory continue to bring comfort to those who mourn her passing.
