Louise Roberta Anderson Profile Photo

Louise Roberta Anderson, 85, went home to her Lord on June 5, 2011. She was born on March 10, 1926 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada to Hermann Cohn Sieburth and Mary McNeil Clark Sieburth, and was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. She received her bachelors and masters degrees at Washington State University, where she also met her future husband James Ubbe Anderson. They were married on June 7, 1953 in Pullman, Washington and then moved to Indiana. After her husband graduated with a Ph D at Purdue University they moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico where he was a professor in Agronomy until his death in 1974. Louise was a homemaker, cared for other family's children, and was a substitute teacher. She loved birthdays and Christmas and frequently was not able to wait to open her presents until the occasion arrived. She was a generous person who spent little on herself. She loved the beauty of God's creation and would often remark about beautiful flowers and stop to pick up a pine cone. Louise and her late husband Jim were active in the ministry of the Gideons, who distribute Bibles around the world. Her favorite passage of scripture was the 23rd Psalm, which she rejoiced to hear even when dementia had taken many of her faculties. She was preceded in death by her husband James Anderson, infant daughters Amalie Louise and Mary Christine Anderson and her brother John Sieburth. She is survived by five children; John (Lydia) Anderson, Charlie (Jane) Anderson, Mark (Halley) Anderson, Tim (Mary) Anderson and Beckie Merrill, twelve grandchildren; Laura (Jason) Adams, Brian (Shannon) Anderson, Rick (Jana) Anderson, Michelle (Ben) Tensay, Robby Anderson, Joe Anderson, Daniel Anderson, Kristin Anderson, James Raymond Anderson, JC Merrill, Alex Merrill and Chrisy Merrill and nine great grandchildren; Carson, Morgan & Jaiden Anderson, Adelle, Carly & Jericho Adams, Lexi & Jordan Tensay and James Anderson. A visitation will be held at Getz Funeral Home on Friday June 10, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be at University Presbyterian Church, 2010 Wisconsin Ave, Las Cruces at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 11, 2011. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. John Pickett and Rev. Patrick Tebbano. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Gideons International in her name. PDF Printable Version
