June 7, 1944 — April 28, 2023

Louise Pierce, 78, of Las Cruces, New Mexico died April 28, 2023, in Las Cruces, NM after a multi-year battle with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson's disease. Louise was born in California in June 1944 to Charles and Mildred Gould. She is preceded in death by her husband John Pierce, parents Charles and Mildred Gould, brother Robert Gould, and daughter Kara Pierce. She is survived by daughters Deanna Rankin (Randy) and Tammy Potter (Rusty); grandsons Kyle and Ian Rankin, Jonathan (Jazzmine), Cameran, and Brydan Johnson, and Jake Potter; and sister Carla Gould. Volunteering with children was one of Louise's main focuses. She helped to bring the Camp Fire Girls organization to Las Cruces in 1970 and served in various leadership capacities. Louise and John were also leaders in the Pinto 4-H club through much of the 1970's where teaching sewing was her specialty. Louise was also very active in St. Paul's UMC, where she not only worked in their Children's Day Out program, but also was a Sunday School and vacation bible school leader. Louise was at the helm of many, many bell choir enchilada dinners. Louise was an avid reader, crafter, and maker. She loved to cook, sew, embroider, and quilt. She and a small group of friends made many quilts for Project Linus, an organization which provides quilts for sick and in-need children. Her memorial service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to thank Desert Peaks Assisted Living and High Desert Hospice for the wonderful and kind care she has received.
