Louis H. Cabot

Louis H. Cabot, 60 of Las Cruces died Friday March 25, 2005 at his home. He was born December 19, 1944 in Carlsbad, NM to Bruce and Mozelle Cabot and grew up in Artesia, NM. Louis was an area resident for about the last 40 years, 36 of those years in law enforcement, 33 with the NMSU department. After nine years as chief Louis retired in May of 2004. He was past president of the New Mexico Association of Chiefs of Police from 2002-2003 and past president of the Texas-New Mexico Association of College and University Police Departments in 1998. Louis was very active and was past president of the Mesilla Valley Ham Radio Club and was on the Search and Rescue team. He was also on the chair of the Metro Narcotics. Aside from law enforcement he was also an active member of First Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Louis is survived by his wife of 32 years Mary; two sons Michael Cabot and his wife Elizabeth of Albuquerque, NM; and Darin Cabot of Las Cruces, NM. One brother John Cabot and his wife Deena of Bayfield, CO; three sisters, Martha Monk of Phoenix, AZ; Norma Bollinger and her husband Al of Simpsonville, SC; and Debbie Roberts of Waco, TX. Also by one grandson Rhys Cabot. He is also survived by his parents, Bruce and Mozelle Cabot of Las Cruces, NM and by his in-laws, Robert and Phyllis McConkie of Las Cruces, NM and many nieces and nephews. At his request cremation has taken place and a Memorial Funeral Service will be held to celebrate his life at 10AM on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at First Baptist Church, 106 South Miranda, Las Cruces with Dr. Frank Zamora officiating.
