Linda Elizabeth Hopper

June 15, 1976 — August 9, 2018

Linda Hopper went to be with the Lord at the age of 42 on August 8th, 2018, in her home. Linda was born on June 15th, 1976, in Nullheim, Germany to Michael and Ana Barry. Linda is survived by her husband, Daniel Hopper (Las Cruces), and her daughter, Hannah Zamora (Los Angeles). Linda grew up in Goodyear, Arizona, and often told stories about living on her parents' farm, where she helped raise cows and grow citrus, and explored the outdoors. The fourth of five siblings (oldest to youngest: Irene Bonadio, Andy Barry, Joe Barry, and Ray Barry), Linda grew up strongly valuing both family and her Catholic faith. Linda was confirmed in her Catholic faith as an adult and described it as one of the most wonderful experiences of her life. Her friends from her childhood describe her as lively, sweet, and outgoing--she had an infectious laugh that could light up a room. She loved spending time with friends and exploring the city. Linda met her husband of 24 years, Daniel Hopper, at Las Cruces High School after her family moved to Las Cruces for a short amount of time. The two married on July 6, 1994. Their first daughter, Hannah Hopper, was born a year later. Linda and Daniel travelled all over the United States as Daniel served in the United States Army, and later Linda and Hannah joined him in South Korea. Seven years later, their second daughter, Jennifer Hopper, was born. Linda was a homemaker and deeply loved her children. She taught them both to read and write before they reached kindergarten, and encouraged in them a love of books and stories. She was an encourager who saw talent in both her children and the people around her, and loved to see artwork and musical performances from both of her daughters. After her daughter, Jennifer's, death, Linda became an advocate for suicide prevention in teens, sharing her daughter's story. She enrolled at New Mexico State University in the pre-nursing program, with the intention of working with children and bringing joy and healing to those she could. A mass, officiated by Bishop Joseph Mukala, will be held at St. Genevieve's Church on Thursday, August 16th, 2018, at 10:30 AM. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Barry, Martin Bonadio, Joseph Barry, Ricky Bardwell, Oscar Zamora, and Eddie Morelos. Mass Information
