Lillian "Lily" Trujillo

August 26, 1941 — December 11, 2023

Our adored and loved mother, grandma, great grandma, aunt, and friend Lillian entered the gates of Heaven on December 11, 2023, surrounded by her family at the age of 82.

Lillian, or Lily as she was fondly known as, was born on August 26, 1941, to David and Margarita Hernandez. She was the 5th child of 6 children. While growing up, Lillian enjoyed spending time with her mama and her only sister Irene (Nena). She learned to cook and quilt, both of which ended up being important to her in life. She met Edward Trujillo in 1953 while watching "Down Among the Sheltering Palm" at the local theater. She had once said "he just grabbed my hand and I'm sure mama wouldn't have liked that if she knew'', with a huge smile on her face. They were married 7 years later in 1960 in the home Lillian grew up in. Later, Lillian gave birth to her 4 children: Ysela, Edward Jr, Michelle, and Christine.

Lillian was a true homemaker at heart. She spent much time in the kitchen, preparing everything from gorditas, tortillas, Chile, pastries and everything in between. Her favorite and favorite of the family were her well known and loved biscochos, a recipe she learned from her mama and passed on to family and friends. Lillian was a very strong woman and was a proud survivor of breast cancer. She never let the aftereffects of breast cancer stop her from living life.

In her later years, you could always catch Lillian at one of the bingo halls. Almost every night to be a matter of fact. She would go early to chat with friends, play cards or just enjoy time out of the house. If she wasn't at bingo, you could find her at home crocheting, sewing, or quilting. She had given many homemade items to her family members. Whether she worked on them alone or with her sister Irene, she was always working on something. Her family has many homemade quilts that we will truly cherish and appreciate. She would also make quilts and wall tapestries to donate to local bingo events. Lillian also enjoyed crocheting pull tab purses and making jewelry from the pull tabs. Lillian was truly an artist and so many people were blessed with her art in different forms but each and every item contained so much love and pride. Lillian was also appreciated for her baking, and we will miss her cakes, pies and biscochos.

Lillian is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years Edward, her parents David and Margarita and brother Robert. She is survived by her daughters Ysela Chavarria (Steven), Michelle Gonzalez (Ramon) and Christine Kirby (John). Her grandchildren Bobby, Sacha (Chris), Tiffini, Ray Jr, Amanda, Adrian, Deanna, Stevie, Anthony (Alexis), Matthew, Dante and Nathaniel. Her great-grandchildren, Delylah, Raechel, Nathaniel G., Danyelle, Zaiden, Anai, Mariah, Kaylee, Mia, Xavier Ella, Sophia, Santiago, Melanie, and a great grandson on the way.
